Economics
From a Different Angle

The goal of the scientificcapitalist
is to get you to think outside the box.
A young friend of mine, who is going to
a local community college, told me that
his economics courses are listed under
philosophy. If we can perform intricate
heart procedures through the veins in
our legs, land on Mars, drill for oil
five miles underground or under the seas,
and put 100 books on a chip small enough
to fit in our pocket, how can we believe
the reason we are able to do all of this
is philosophical? Am I missing something
or has everyone else missed something,
like the science of economics?
I am not selling a book,
I am selling ideas-- new ideas, ideas
that are not philosophical. "Why Capitalism
Works and Government Doesn't" a.k.a. "How
government is recycling the American workforce
to pay its bills and How the rich profit
from big government" raises questions
and provides answers the economists do
not. You will not hear in the classroom
what you will read in this book. Why is
this book so different? Simple. THIS IS
NOT YOUR GREAT GRANDFATHER'S ECONOMY,
the principles have changed. The evolution
of the division of labor has ended our
dependence on the big businesses whose
welfare so impacted the economy. Workers
once had to rely on jobs from big steel,
big auto, big oil and even big shoe. The
job market, through the division of labor,
has become incredibly diverse and that
diversity changes the economic mechanics.
Unfortunately, our government
has sucked up the benefits of our increased
productivity by raising taxes, adding
regulation and transferring costs once
paid by government to the private sector.
The government then spends the money it
"saved" elsewhere. Government has far
more control than the economists claim.
Imports and efficiency have relieved some
of the burden for individuals and businesses,
but the ability to assimilate government's
cost is declining rapidly. Government
actions have consequences and beliefs
affect how we think. Changes must occur
in how people think, in our legislative
bodies, our businesses and, most importantly,
in our homes and classrooms. Economics
is not a philosophy.
"Why Capitalism Works and
Government Doesn't" is not an easy read
but, if you want to know what is going
on in the economy, it will be well worth
the effort.
