FOR THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES THE DEFENSE
OF THE NATION IS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
It
is important, therefore, that our fighting men
and women receive our respect, support and encouragement
wherever they are, and the finest equipment when
engaging the enemy.
Our
intelligent agencies are the first defense against
terrorist's acts and for the prevention of wars
that would ultimately result in the sacrifice
of our fighting personnel. These agencies and
their personal should not be hindered by obstructive
and unrealistic protocols nor should agency personnel
be threatened with lawsuits when protocol has
been followed.
Terrorists,
when captured on foreign ground, should be dealt
with as military prisoners, tried by military
tribunals and should not be afforded the same
rights as citizens of the United States. Our fighting
personnel should not be burdened with the reading
of Miranda to enemy combatants.
The
United States has been fortunate in that no war
in over 150 years has been fought on our homeland.
It is important that we keep our Armed Forces
and Intelligence Agencies well equipped and well
funded for this to continue. - Ed Dedelow
